Dear Tania, Melinda, Lanita, Josh and Tiaree, Thinking of you as grieve the loss of your dad and also mum not so long ago. I just wanted to let you know that Gil and Cathy were such an encouragement to my late husband Martin Hanscamp when he worked at Mountain District Christian School as a teacher and Vice-Principal. Their faithful, servant hearted, Christ -centred approach to life was an inspiration to Martin and myself. May you experience comfort now and in the days, weeks and months to come.

Gil was a significant contributor to my coming to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour way back in 1971. Gil, the passionate evangelist and wise Bible teacher/expounder with Campaigners for Christ. God established Gil and John Smith as a formidable team! One statement Gil said way back then that has resonated with me over the years since: ‘God did not promise cheesecake and pavlova. He promised good ol’ sandwiches’. God providing us with sustaining, nurturing, spiritual food, taking us from baby Christians onto maturity. Ever Knowing God personally. I am confident that there are countless others like me who too have grown spiritually, were discipled, and came to ongoingly know the deepening love & joyous companionship of our Mighty God, through Gil’s ministry. Gil was a humble, devout Christian man, with a keen sense of humour, He exuded godliness, integrity. I also well remember the days of ‘Fellowship For Revival’ and Gil’s insistence (against the social gospel agenda) that the power of focused prayer and seeking what God desired must come first. Gil was indeed like King David, ‘a man after God’s own heart’. Praise God for Gil’s life on earth. Yes & Gil will now be rejoicing with His God, His Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in Heaven.
