Janet Galley was a very special leader standing up for women and girls in Victoria. She contributed so much time and expertise to the National Council of Women Victoria and the National Council of Women Australia. She was our archivist too. When I needed information she always knew where to get it. I always valued her support in my academic and community activities. I will miss her being there. Thank you Janet.

I knew both Janet and Peter through our mutual love of local heritage. I respected Janet greatly for her commitment, forthright opinions and no nonsense approach to resolving issues of debate - often with a hearty laugh at its conclusion! Personally and on behalf of members of the Surrey Hills Historical Society, I extend our condolences to Janet’s family. We need more advocates like Janet.
