>read onMy sympathies to the Martin family on Margaret's passing. Mrs Martin was a very important person in my youth being my piano teacher for many years (and also to my parents and siblings) with so many wonderful memories and instilling a love of playing. Recitals, exams, going from classical to modern music, scales, earning stars, music theory - I loved (almost) every moment. The love of playing the piano and later organ has stayed with me ever since some 25 years later and I am so grateful for the influence she has had on me today. In memoriam of her, I'll try and see if I can play Maple Leaf Rag again - a piece that I found difficult but was given so much encouragement by her to play. In God's care now, but her influence on music on earth continues today.

Dear Shahila, Paul & John Our condolences on the passing of your Mum Margaret. May she rest in peace in the presence of Our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. May The Almighty God envelope all the family with His unending love and comfort you as you grieve and mourn for this big loss. God bless you & keep you.
Margaret Martin was our neighbor just down the street in the 1960s and 70’s when we were children growing up in Findon. When I was about 7 years old I went with Margaret to see the movie ‘ the sound of music’ at the Lockleys theatre. Soon after that I was allowed to start piano lessons. I was keen but I had to practice on a harmonium pedal organ ( which was the wrong technique for piano) However I learnt the language of music well from Margaret and completed Grade 4 AMEB theory exams by the time I was 12 years old. I have had two other piano teachers following on from Margarets teaching but I realize her grounding in music reading and theory and performance have been the underpinning of my own teaching. Our Piano Pedagogy comes From Margaret’s teacher at Adelaide Teachers college - enforcing 3 hours practice a day. Many other student of this teacher are equally wonderful musicians and teachers but his name escapes me at the moment. It has been a wonderful honor to have had the beautiful influence of Margaret’s teaching on my life and my music skill. She was a cherished family friend who we will never be forgotten and I look forward to seeing her again in glory in heaven. With fondest memories Love from Lesley Beale nee Johncock
