Doreen was one of the first people we met when we moved to our Street in Caversham. We soon recognised that she was ‘the’ reigning matriarch! She knew everyone and everything! She played a big part in our children’s early lives and took as much pleasure in them as their grandparents did. Charly still remembers afternoons on the sofa, having tea and biscuits with his ‘Reenie’ and both loved helping you out in the garden.

Rest easy Doreen

With love from all of us xxx

My sincere condolences to Neil, Anne and Matthew.

Marigolds in my garden always remind of your Mum, Neil, because when she visited with you one time she asked permission to collect some seeds to plant her own.

I'll continue to remember her when marigolds pop up in my garden each summer...

Much love and prayers.
Vicki

We enjoyed many occasions and celebrations with Doreen, Anne, Neil and Matthew. Doreen was always so cheerful, and she lit up the room. There were many good conversations over Christmas lunch and fun times throughout the year. Doreen, we were privileged to have met you and to have spent so many special moments together! Neil, Anne and Matthew, be assured of our love and prayers as you grieve and remember Doreen. Lots of love, Sarah, Chris, Timothy and Joshua xx

It was wonderful to have Doreen at my 40th birthday celebration a few years ago. Without knowing anyone there, she had a smile that lit up the room.

Doreen was a very good friend of my parents and as my god mother an important part of my life.
My thoughts are with Neil and his family at this very sad time.

My sister Jenny and I were cousins by marriage to Doreen, when we all lived in Reading, England.
We grew up knowing that Doreen made beautiful wedding cakes, was fond of gardening - especially fuchsias and even won a ticket to the Chelsea Flower Show. She was very caring especially to older members of her family and had them live with her for a time. Doreen always enjoyed finding a bargain but having done so would give and share any item with family and friends.
She loved holidays in Wales with Jenny, one lasting six weeks. Doreen flew on Concorde twice and often visited relatives in America. She made her last trip to settle in Australia with her son Neil, Anne and Matthew. Jenny, myself and our children are happy to have been a small part of Doreen’s life and hope, on her last trip she knows she will be remembered with love and much affection.

I am so sorry to hear of Doreen's passing.
I will treasure the memories of our outings to places of interest like Jane Austen's house and numerous afternoon teas. On one occasion we went on a trip to Lincoln Xmas Market and met up with her niece Judith. Friday evening was a regular fish & chip supper night.
Doreen was a kind, generous and considerate lady.
So sadly missed but will never be forgotten. xxx

I am so sorry for the loss of my friend Doreen.
If ever I needed help with DIY, any sort of craft, baking or gardening, Doreen was always there to help and give advice. She would do anything for you.
I will miss her smile and laugh.
Rest in peace, xx

Doreen was a dear friend and former neighbour to us. She was so kind and generous and never hesitated to help if needed. She was a fabulous cake maker too. My Grandson’s cake for his 1st birthday, was a super blue teddy bear which was never surpassed. I used to tease her calling her Beryl but she always took it like a sport. We thought it was so brave to up sticks and move to the other side of the world and enjoyed her farewell gathering realising how many people cared for Doreen by the numbers of attendees. So, rest in peace dear Doreen. It was a privilege to have known you. Love Jenny, Terry and Julie xxx

Doreen was my oldest sister. Since she moved to Australia to live with Neil Anne and Matthew we had not seen her. Communication had not been very regular. She used to come to America to stay a few weeks at a time, it was so nice to go back in time, we would relive the family life. There were 7 children Doreen was the oldest girl I am the baby of the family. We still have 2 sisters and 1 brother living in England. She will be missed by so many people. I just prey she will rest in peace knowing her Savior Jesus Christ welcomes her with open arms. In loving memory from Hazel and Gerry.
