Su Ann, your mum is watching over all of us from her privileged place in Heaven.

I'm sure you have many many good memories of your mum who was gone too soon.

During the festive seasons, I will always remember your mum's cheerful character and generous heart.

Dear everyone,
Thank you again for the lovely memories of my mother. She has always been my biggest supporter and has saved my life in more ways than one.
It truly warms my heart to hear she spoke much and with such passion at work. I understand why she was so devoted to her workplace, all her colleagues captured her essence so well, you helped keep her going without knowing.
Mum was full of wisdom and knowledge. Watching my daughter grow up with such confidence and intelligence, makes me miss my mum dearly. I know you would be so proud of her, Clara's popo.

We are most sad to hear of Evient’s passing. She was so brave when she was telling me (in emails over the last couple of years) about her treatment, bearing up with her discomfort. We could see her dedication, carrying on part time at work to the end; and her confidence in Christ, whether he healed her or not.

We remember your visit to our home in London after your Europe tour back in 2008.

Sending you all our condolences and assuring you of our prayers.

Desmond & Li Ching Kong on 1 October, 2021 at 9:19pm

Dear Gilbert, so sad to hear about Evient’s homecall yesterday.

Our deepest condolences and prayers are with you and family at this time of loss. May the Lord of all comfort and peace embrace you all with his love in the coming days ahead. Thank you for sending the link to the Funeral service. It was a wonderful tribute to a faithful child of God.
Brought back memories of our time together at MCF in London.
Take care and God bless.

God looked around his Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain.
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult, he closed your tired eyes,
He whispered to you “Peace be Thine” and gave you wings to fly.

When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain,
We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again.
You’ve left us precious memories, your love will be our guide,
You live on through your children, you’re always by our side.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.

Dear Mum,
Words cannot fully express our grief at having you taken from us so soon. You have been an amazing mother, mother in law, and most importantly, po-po. You will be greatly missed by us all, but we take comfort that you are now in paradise with the Almighty and will always be watching over us forevermore.

We grieve for Evient’s passing from this world as she’s still too young. However, we are comforted to know that she’s now in the presence of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Evient served the Lord as a faithful servant in her church selflessly.
We are grateful to have known Evient, albeit for a short period only. We will miss having her around for the festive seasons where she would always make our favourite Malaysian kueh like serimuka and bring our favourite roasted pork & duck from the best supplier. She may be a woman who doesn’t say much but we will miss her words of wisdom when she does. We are blessed that she has left in her only child, Suann, the faith of a God loving woman. Evient’s only granddaughter, Clara, will surely miss her boh-boh’s love and wise teachings in her growing years.
Evient, may you rest in peace in God’s presence and watch over your dear family: Gilbert, Suann, Clara, Francis and us. We will forever remember you in our hearts with fond memories.

What a wonderful service we saw today for Evient. Gilbert and Su Ann your eulogies were very special and touched our hearts. We value the meaningful memories we had with Evient. On our only trip to Malaysia she was willing to host us even though Su Ann was an infant. Gilbert and Su Ann made our trip so special even though it was in the midst of a busy time in their lives. Then the Alaska Cruise was the only ocean cruise we ever did and we loved being with your Australian gang. Unfortunately Evient got a little seasick but in her strong constitution stuck through it. We were blessed to see you in Seattle. Thankfully we got to see Evient one more time in Melbourne. Our condolences to the Koh family. We take comfort in knowing through Jesus we will be reunited with great joy. I will be making some more posts of pictures we have from our trip together.

I am so sorry for your loss of Evient. You’re reflections today were beautiful to hear.

I worked with Evient at the hospital in different areas. Our paths crossed though and we worked closely on the move to the new CSSD last year. Evient knowledge, strategy, advocacy, professionalism , and work ethic where next level. She’s left a permanent impact on me, and as a nurse and a human I am all the better for the time I got to spend with Evient learning all things CSSD.
My sincere condolences, may she RIP. xx

Dear Pui Che

I'm at a loss and so sad that you have left us. I can only believe that with your strong faith that God has a greater plan for you. It's been such a blessing to have had you in our family, and to have had you in our lives. Even though we live miles apart, we have somehow managed to always meet up here and there, whether in Malaysia or USA. It has always been such a blessing to have spend those times with you, especially on our coincidental trips back to Ipoh. And I will always be so touched that you changed your plans so you could come to our wedding.

We have talked about how when borders open, we will plan a trip to go back to Ipoh together so you can meet Declan. I'm so sad that this is not going to happen as Declan is missing out. . You have always been so kind and loving to me and my family, especially mom. She loves all the potato chips you bring everytime you come visit! =)

I'm going to miss you so much Pui Che. Rest in Peace.
Love, Joanne

Dearest Evient/Sam ku cheh,

You are a person of few words unless you feel comfortable to share
You treasure your privacy hence few may know your inner thoughts and feelings
Your external demeanour does no justice to your real self within which lies a heart of gold; tender, genuine and true
Your diligence and utmost strength from within will always and forever, be an inspiration
Above all, it is your unwavering faith in God Almighty that shines like a beacon to carry you forth to Eternity into His loving arms, to reunite with "gor gor" and "jie jie" our beloved Johnnie and Estella

In loving memory,
Your sister in law and niece 💕

Thank you so much for everything boss...for all the learnings, support, love & concern you've given me❤❤❤. I will surely miss you 😢

Melanie Almazan on 16 September, 2021 at 12:51am

Evient was my NUM whom I always call 'Boss', the one person who gave me the chance to work in CSSD. I don't have any Sterilization experience & my Theatre exposure/job was like years & years ago but she trusted me the position to be her associate nurse unit manager. One time she told me the reason she hired me amongst the other applicants was because of my long years experience of being an anum as everything about CSSD can be taught & learned but leadership & management comes from a good experience.
She was my mentor, my teacher--everything I know about Sterilization dept. I learned from her. She's also like a second mother to me throughout the years we've work together. It's so painful to lose her but I know God has a better plan for her & her beloved family. She was there for me when I lost my dad last year, she never forget to send me text messages when I was overseas, checking on me & my dad when he was still in the hospital. Evient was a tough cookie but with a heart of gold.
She loves life and loves working, it's so sad that she didn't enjoy that much the fruit of her labour-the brand new cssd that she has conceptualized from the beginning and waited up to its full completion.
I will surely miss you boss, your smile, your knock on the wall, the way you call my name & those times that our team celebrated Christmas. May your loving soul rest in peace with our Lord God almighty. Remembering you with all my love Boss.
My deepest condolences to you Gilbert & Su-Ann, may God's love & mercy give you comfort during this trying times.

Evient
I remember our first trip together to Seattle, Alaska and Canada. What a wonderful time we had especially the shopping for diamonds. You are a woman of many skills! You are a strong, direct, unique and the most hardworking woman I know but most importantly with a big heart of gold and beautiful inside and out.
We are all going to miss you.
Gilbert and Su-Ann, may your memories of Evient give you comfort and keep you strong. That would have been what she would have wanted!

We use to remember the delicious meals you cook up when we were invited to your place .Never mind we will meet again in heaven which is a better place where there is no pain or sickness. There I’ll be joy and happiness . Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life . He who believes in me will live even though he die but he who lives and believe in Jesus will never die..

Bechim, I will always remember your strength, it wasn’t bold or forceful, but gentle and persevering. I admire your love for God and family, above all else you honoured Him and this poured into your love for your family. I will always remember you taking away food for Berchek and Ann after lunch on Sundays and the delicious home cooked meals you would cook when we would visit. I will miss your Serimuka Kuih, and your tips on household cleaning, I wish I could tell you how helpful you have been in caring for me when I first moved to Melbourne. I am thankful for your encouragement and faith during the tough seasons of life, and whilst you’re not here to see the seeds of faith you’ve planted, I know Jesus will honour you with treasures in heaven. Rest well and free in the arms of your creator, Bechim. Till we see you again!

Berchek and Ann, I pray that you rest in the comfort and peace that our merciful God will provide you, Bechim’s legacy will live on through you ♥️

Dear mum,
this isn't the clearest picture but I have such fond memories of this moment. It started raining one Autumn day. We were in Seoul and without an umbrella, so covered our heads with our scarves and ran for cover. It's been a while since we've partaken in such unscripted spontaneity. I wish I knew then what I knew now and to appreciate and create even more moments like these.

I miss you.

I wish I had not let fear get the better of me to stand in the gap for you more, you always stood in the face of all fear and doubt, attributing your strength to God. I don't understand why the world has to lose you, but as you would say with everything, God is good. So whilst I can't see it right now, I'll believe in the goodness of God and trust that your story is part of a greater plan.

You've fought the good fight,
You've finished the race,
You've kept the faith.
[2 Timothy 4:7-8]

Dear Gilbert and Su-Ann,
Gilbert and Su-Ann please accept out heartfelt sympathy and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
We had the privilege and honour of working the Ng (Evient) in Cardiac Surgery at RCH. Ng's tireless dedication to the highest standard of nursing care was always impeccable. Ng was an outstanding clinician, fantastic scrub nurse and our Nursing profession had lost a true "one of a kind".
Ng's ability to lead by example and excel under pressure showed her inner strength and will be a legacy to be remembered.
We treasure the good times and the tough times together and often it was with Ng's instigation that we headed to Laksa King or Nam Fong for a "debrief" and nourishing bowl of noodles to restore our enthusiasm for the next day.
Ng, may you rest in peace - always in our hearts.
We share this photo of happy times from March 2004.

Our sincere condolences to the Koh family. Evient worked tirelessly to raise the standards and profile of hospital sterilisation. She was admired for her strength and tenacity and supported us in the CSSD at Broadmeadows Health Service.

Dear Gilbert and Su Wen
My thoughts are with you and your family. I am grateful I had the chance to know Evient as both a colleague (Broadmeadows Hospital) and a friend. Evient was wise and full of good advice. Praying that you find comfort in your memories of her.

Dear God, As we remember her and of her passing, called home to be with you.
Please sit with us here in this emotional darkness. Help us to remember. Let's remember the natural peace her presence gave. Help us remember the grace of her heart, the generosity of her spirit, the sincerity of her kindness. Help us remember all the ways You touched the world through her goodness.
Amen

We are blessed to have grown up with Su Ann and her family. Aunty Evient was a kind and caring soul and she made us feel like family.
My sisters and I loved spending time with the Koh family, especially on holiday to Rosebud. So many fond childhood memories that we hold close to our heart. I remember Aunty would always pack snacks for us in those jars with the red lids. Her fried anchovies and cookies were our favourite.
Aunty was such a strong woman and a fighter. Thank you for letting us be a part of your life.
The Tham Family will miss you dearly.
