Yee Chong, I remember being in your home all the time growing up in Melbourne. Even when we left, I looked forward to our visits back to see you again. You were a kind, gentle, loving influence in my life that I will remember.

Grace Lim on 17 July, 2023 at 11:18am

Dear Kam Weng,
Growing up with your children, I have seen you instruct, protect and care for them as a good father would. You are an anchor and a firm foundation for your children. They have all grown up and called you Blessed. You have left a legacy for the next generation. One that is not easy to follow. You are dearly missed. I know this is not a final goodbye but we will meet again and hear you play your organ, to sing and rejoice with you.

Sonny Lim on 17 July, 2023 at 11:01am

Dear Kam Weng,
You have led an exemplary life. A great father and grandfather. Everyone who met you felt welcome by your sincere, warm greeting and smile. My family and I have enjoyed memorable times with you. Birthdays, family gatherings and our sojourn with you and Wendy in N.Zealand. I am sure without a doubt our Father in heaven will say well done faithful servant. We look forward to seeing you again.

Dials 9816 9816 on a Saturday morning to 36 May Street, Balwyn

KW: Hello
Jules: Hi Yee Cheong
KW: Hi Jules
Jules: Any lunch plans today?
KW: Not sure, have to ask Tai Yee. Tony will be coming over later. Are you joining us?
Jules: Yes I will come round shortly.
KW: OK. See you soon.

Dear Yee Cheong I will always cherish the Saturday mornings in the kitchen of 36 May Street with Malaysian kopi brewing on the stove and snacks from the pantry. This is then proceeded with op shop galavanting, a visit to the market and of course lunch! One of many fond memories I hold dear to my heart...

Dear Gung Gung, to me, your radiant smile was infectious. Your positivity was contagious and you always brought joy to the people around you. Thank you for being there for me, for your generosity and for reminding me to be happier.
You have lived the best 94 years. You will always be in my heart and in my prayers. You are in the best possible place and I look forward to the day when we are reunited and share in the eternal joy of Heaven. Until then, your memory will serve as a beacon, encouraging me to lead a life filled with compassion, joy, and love.

First time we met each other more than 50 years ago in Tun Michael Chen's house. Friendship started to grow stronger and stronger since then. Spent many happy times together over dinners, chatting in your old house in section 21 Petaling Jaya. A trip to the USA with you and Wendy in 1978, visiting San Francisco and Las Vegas, seems just not too long ago. We mistakenly booked an excursion to Muir Wood Park San Francisco instead of going Yosemete National Park, but we enjoyed it. We stayed at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas where Elvis Presley held his wedding ceremony. We wanted to attend the Andy Williams Show at Caesar's Palace but gave up after queueing up at the long line in the cold weather. We, of course, remember the times we spent together during our trips to Melbourne and your visits back to Malaysia. It is our honor and treasure to have had a good friend like you. We miss you.

While our hearts are sad because we will miss you dearly, we have no greater joy than knowing that you have found the Tree of Life: the Love of God. We will miss your smile and kind words but you will always be in our hearts forever. Till we meet you again in heaven, we love you.

Dear Gu Jiong, our family is diminished with your passing. We shall all miss you greatly but also grateful for your 95 years, your wisdom, kindness and generosity. Farewell, rest in peace and thank you.

Ice on 12 July, 2023 at 9:49pm

Dear Father, I've only known you for short 13 years but it feels like a lifetime. I feel sad that the times I spent with you are no more. You are the only one in our big family who can communicate with me in Chinese fluently. Your Chinese knowledge is extensive and profound. As a Chinese from China, I feel inferior when faced with your knowledge of China and the world.
When I first came to Australia, I was not familiar with the place and my English was not particularly good but as soon as I communicated with you in Chinese I immediately felt as if I was at home. I still remember my first birthday here. You celebrated my birthday with a "lobster feast" for close family members. You make me feel so important and for that I will always love you, mother and our big family. You made me feel part of this amazing family.
I am very grateful to have met and known you, my dear Father in Law. Your life is legendary, great and fulfilled. Your attitude and spirit will always inspire us. May you go to heaven with happiness and joy.

Nicholas Kong on 12 July, 2023 at 9:45pm

Dear Yeh Yeh. Seeing the love and joy you give and receive from everyone and hearing about your life story, it is clear you have lived as full a life as one can live. Part of this is from a deep understanding of the importance of family. I remember the times when you used to look after me when I was younger and even into 95, you have kept that cheerful energy that can only help to make others around you smile. I wish you peace and lots of love wherever you may be.

Belinda Loke on 12 July, 2023 at 8:40pm

When I was first introduced to you, in your Church Road home, I still remember you telling me then that from my surname you knew a Mr Loke Yew Seng very well in your younger days in Ipoh. What a small world indeed as that was my dad. This close friendship with my family has always meant a special bond. You always had a lot of fond memories and stories to tell whenever I saw you. I am so happy we got to see each other recently again as you always have a smile for everyone and share a lot of happy stories. What a great and wonderful life you have lived.

God Be with you. With love.

Dai Gu Jiong, you've always been kind and gracious to the people around us. I always looked forward to meeting you whenever you are back in Malaysia, and you would always offer to take us around Melbourne when we come over. You have always been generous with your time and encouragement. I will miss having conversations with you in Chinese and you sharing your stories with us. Forever missed. 💌

The demise of a great personality. With this my wife and I convey our deepest condolences to you. Restrain your sorrows and soldier on

Graham Cameron on 11 July, 2023 at 5:35pm

Kam Weng, what a life you have led surviving war, a successful career in govt and film, four children and eight grand children, and migrating to a country so different from your own.
You have remained strong in your values, love of family, concern for our future, and your passion for music, reading and heritage stand out as a shining testimony to your time here with us all.
During your time here on Earth you have witnessed the worst of humanity during WWII and the best through the care your family has extended you through these recent times.
I wish you all the blessings God has in store for you as your pathway continues. On this Earth you will be sorely missed by many, and I hope and pray we will all rejoin you one day for the next adventure.
Love, Graham

Pa, miss you very much. Wish there was more time. I want you to know that I appreciate all you have done for me. Your love, understanding and patience will always be remembered.
You bought me a new motorcycle when I wanted it and gave me my first car, the Peugeot 504 although it bankrupted me in fuel cost! There's heaps more to thank you for but know nothing is forgotten. I am lucky to be your son and to be part of a beautiful family. I will do my best to look after Ma. I know you love and care for her a lot and I will do what you cannot from this time on. Love you as long as I live. Rest in peace, dear Father.
