Dear Malcolm, Heather, Hugh, Ruth, and Anthea (and all “the kids”).
I am at a loss to say anything that could provide adequate comfort at this time, but I very much wish to acknowledge Marg’s passing and my deep understanding of the cornerstone force and influence she was (and will continue to be) in all your lives. She was such a hub and active presence on so many levels, much enjoyed and loved, and will be profoundly missed by you all in many big and small ways.
With her ever welcoming and engaging style, conversational range, and keenness for finding enjoyment in all sorts of things, it was often delightful and so easy to be in her company. Marg’s strikingly rich voice was a very immediately homely and centering feature on every visit or interaction, and conversations could be very rich, full of interest, and of easy warmth. Amongst other things, I always enjoyed talking to her about bits of local news, people goings on, catching up, and advice (or raised eyebrows) on my amateur gardening attempts. She had such spirit, comforting mannerisms (Marg-erisms?), and great uplift about things. I always appreciated how she never failed to make sure we had spoken, even if just briefly and quietly, at a big event. I could say much more, but aside from the respect I had for her, she was just a corker. I was very very fond of her and her nature, and she will be very missed.
From myself, and all the Crawford crew, deep sympathy to each of you and as a family, in your deep grief and sorrow at the loss of such a constant strength and remarkable joy.
